Joelle Burila

Joelle Burila is a San Diego native from the South Bay with a passion for environmental justice and creating sustainable livable cities. She has more than eight years of professional experience in the nonprofit sector and environmental consulting and graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.A. in Environmental Studies.

 

Before joining the Office of Supervisor Nora Vargas, Joelle worked as an Environmental Scientist at Brown and Caldwell focusing on environmental compliance and permitting for clients. She previously served as the Programs and Conference Manager at the Industrial Environmental Association (IEA) where she worked closely with industry stakeholders in the San Diego community and local and state government agencies and regulators. Before the IEA, Joelle worked as the Volunteer Coordinator at Sunday Streets San Francisco where she managed a diverse volunteer program consisting of 400+ people.
